How guided wave radar level sensors improve level measurement accuracy

Guided wave radar level level sensors operate by sending out small waves — like ripples in a pond — to take a reading of the level of liquid or solid in a tank. These waves, upon striking the surface of the material in the tank, bounce back toward the sensor. The sensor next uses these bouncing waves to determine the amount of material in the tank. It’s like playing catch with invisible waves!

Although they are not so smart in the traditional sense, guided wave radar level sensors are incredibly intelligent as they are accurate when attempting to measure the level as even if the material in the tank is sticky, or foamy. This makes it a good choice for measuring most things that we find around us in liquid or solid forms, such as water, oil and grains. They’re also able to operate under extreme temperatures and pressures, which makes them ideal for tough jobs in places like factories or oil refineries.
