insertion vortex flow meter

Insertion type vortex flow meters are specialized devices used for measuring the speed of gases or liquids especially in pipes, ducts and similar other use cases, at factories. They are critical as they offer insights into ensuring the seamless operation of machines and processes. When the fluid passes a bluff body in an object it creates a series of vortices (for lack of better words) from them, these meters then use vortex shedding and they work. Fluid (such as water or air) passes over an object that blocks its path Which in turn makes the object on either side of it to create small, swirling patterns (in this case called vortices) as if there were a miniature tornado for both sides of aforementioned blob. By counting how frequently these swirls come and go, we know the velocity of fluid flowing in the pipeline.

The greatest characteristic of insertion vortex flow meters is their high accuracy. They are able to time the flow amount pretty much exactly how it should be, which is a great help in factories. This accuracy takes into account the picking and confirms everything is functioning properly while with it, makes sure only what should come out comes. If you get the flow rate wrong countless things can go very, very bad (e.g. production downtime, off-spec materials out of spec scrap or potentially even…safety).

Benefits of using insertion vortex flow meters in industrial applications

These meters are also highly flexible, which is another key advantage of them. They are suitable for measuring different types of fluids, like liquid and gases. This means that they can serve its purpose in many cases and sectors. They can be put in pipes of various sizes and materials, so they are suitable for many applications. So, if a plant uses water or oil or any other fluids, then the possibility is high that an insertion vortex flow meter will help them.

Differential pressure meters or turbine flow meters were used by factories in the past to measure flow. I mean, these old devices still operate today, but they have some issues and drawbacks. For instance, differential pressure meters can be clogged by dirt or debris in a way that skews the measurement. However, turbine meters have issues with plant wear and attrition in very busy industrial applications.
