Vacuum gauges are neat devices, they let us visualize how much pressure air places on a vacuum. Have you run a vacuum cleaner before? The vacuum pressure gauge tells us how much the suction power is! So what are these gauges, and how do they work?
A vacuum pressure gauge is a unique instrument for us to know the pressure of the air in the vacuum. It features a dial with numbers that display the pressure level. The needle on the gauge moves down to the lower numbers when the pressure is low. If the reading is high, the needle moves up to the higher numbers. It’s a tiny little superhero (wee) that lets us see things we can’t!
How to Use a Vacuum Pressure Gauge Some vacuum systems are designed for positive pressure, but those systems are fewer and farther between than the more common negative pressure systems.
How to use a vacuum pressure gauge? First, you CONNECT the gauge to the vacuum pump or chamber. Then you should switch on the pump to form a vacuum. There should be a pressure gauge so you stand and observe how the pressure is doing. If the needle is in the green zone, the vacuum is good. In the red zone, time to modify the vacuum. This one is good for your vacuum cleaner!

If you have a known set of good injectors, it’s very valuable to test the vacuum levels with a pressure gauge. If the vacuum pressure is too weak, the vacuum won’t suck dirt and dust. If the pressure is excessive, the vacuum cleaner could be harmed. You can monitor the vacuum with a pressure gauge, and ensure everything is running properly. It’s like a watchdog for your vacuum!

When choosing a vacuum pressure gauge, consider what you are hoping to achieve. There are also different types of gauges designed for different purposes. If you need read low pressure, get a gauge for it. If you are using high-pressure vacuums, though, make sure the gauge can handle that, too. Get an adult or an expert to help you choose the right gauge for your vacuum cleaner.

To ensure that YOUR vacuum pressure gauge continues to work as it should, take care of it! Clean and dust it regularly. If the gauge isn’t working properly, you may have to calibrate it. It’s like tuning up your gauge by giving it what’s called a calibration to check on its accuracy. You can get an adult or a professional to do this. Taking care of your gauge will assure that your vacuum cleaner runs properly over a long stretch of time.
